While Leica is best known for their rangefinder cameras, both the older Barnack and the iconic M-Series Leica produces a line of single lens reflex cameras in response to the cameras coming out of Japan.

The Leica R3 was a big hit for Leitz, and at one time Leitz thought that their future would be in the SLR market. It was also very expensive, more so than the already expensive Minolta XE-7. I bought my Leica R3 with the Summicron 50mm f2 lens and was excited to compare it to the Minolta XE-7 with the Rokkor 50mm 1.4 lens.

The R3 is probably the cheapest Leica on the market, but it's a bit big for a SLR, and there is a history of bad electronics, the one I had was ok.
